Consulate Medical Appointment

On Saturday, June 29th we headed to Ava's consulate medical appointment. with two other Lifeline families. This is a requirement for her to be issued a US Visa to enter the United States. The medical center is a newer facility, and was very nice.

There was a large waiting area at the entrance, but we didn't sit here. Our guide took us right to the back examination rooms where she took our paperwork and handed it off to the medical staff. We needed to bring a copy of her Chinese passport, her immunization record and medical report from her referral. The very first thing we did was get a picture for her visa. Ava was sound asleep so we had to wake her up.

Here is the examination hallway. There are several exam rooms (eyes and hearing, physical exam, weight/height check, and a vaccine/blood draw room). Because Ava was under 2, she did not have to have the TB blood draw done or any vaccines. We signed a waiver indicating we would complete her vaccines at home.

Sitting outside the first room we went into. This doctor checked eyes and ears. The hearing test consisted of squeaking a duck by the child's ear, and seeing if they respond.

Height and weight check. Ava weighed 19.2 lbs and was 30 inches.

Our medical paperwork.

While we waited to go into the final room for the physical exam, Ava and I started playing a little game. She thought it was hystically fun!

We are so in love in with her!!!!!!! (This is one of my favorite pictures from the whole trip! Jeremy snapped this while we were playing!!! Love her so much!)

In the physical exam check, the doctor read through her original referral file and checked her for her special need. First though he listened to her heart and lungs.

Not happy to be laying on this table getting checked!

The medical exam appointment went quickly! And one way to celebrate the completion of this milestone in the adoption journey is to buy a bottle of wine from this dispenser in the lobby of the building!
