While we are so thankful for how smoothly our adoption process has gone, we have run into a few snags here at the end. We are day 21 waiting for our TA (travel approval) to be issued. It feels like "so close, yet so far away." The adoption authority was closed for the last week of May for a computer upgrade. Unfortunately, that upgrading process has not gone smoothly, and not much work was done last week either. Tomorrow is the third and final day of the Dragon Boat Festival, and hopefully they will get right to work issuing TAs and other paperwork adoptive families need to proceed. But to top it off, the US government has decided to move the consulate in Guangzhou, and will be closed July 12-24. This is like the perfect storm in the adoption world. We still have a slight window of opportunity to get Ava before the July consulate closure. Praying The Lord works some miracles or it may be another whole month until we can travel.
Fortunately we have been blessed with new pictures of Ava recently. A friend I met though a Facebook DTC group was also adopting a little girl from Ava's orphanage. They recently traveled, and got to meet Ava! They also took some pictures and video. What a blessing these pictures were to us!

The woman holding Ava is Cherry who visits and loves on Ava daily! So thankful for the bond they have! |
Then today we were surprised to received more pictures of Ava. Back in May, I sent a care package via some Canadian ICC workers. I was recently told that they weren't able to get pictures but the package had been delivered. Apparently, pictures were taken, and Kyla, the head of ICC at Ava's orphanage, compiled them and sent them to us today. My heart melted at seeing her smiling and waving, and looking at all the things we sent her. I really loved the one of her holding the pictures Trevor and Evan had drawn for her. Thankful for pictures that bridge the gap until we can get her, but praying and longing for it to be not much longer.

ReplyDeleteAs I anxiously await your call, my favorite thing to do is scroll thru this beautiful timeline of your lives and the lives of your gorgeous, precious children. Like you, I swoon over all of the pictures of Ava, but also so in love with Trevor and Evan. Time has gone too fast...may you always know that they, you & "Daddy" are tucked away in my heart! Here come the tears again...
