Traveling to Changsha, Hunan Province

On Sunday 6/23, we traveled from Hong Kong to Changsha via subway and High speed train. We left our hotel in HK around 9 am, a bit earlier than we planned but the extra time was a blessing. When we arrived in mainland China at Shenzhen we thought we could buy a ticket from Shenzhen to Changsha. Unfortunately, the train was sold out. So the agent put us on a train to Guangzhou and then a train to Changsha. We literally had to run to the guangzhou high speed train as it was leaving very soon. I was dripping in sweat! This change of travel put us in Changsha about 40 minutes later than planned. We tried to get a hold of our guide, but had no luck.

The train was awesome. Very smooth and the views of the country side were wonderful. They train was traveling around 185 mph.

Once in Changsha, we looked for our guide but couldn't find her. In the exit area of the train station, there were several others waiting. So I asked some younger girls if they could help us. They could speak a little English and were able to call our guide. Thank God for the people who along the way who have been able to help us! Out guide soon arrived and we met our driver for the week. They took us to our hotel Changsha called the Huiatian. It is very nice. We learned there are 7 million people in Changsha. Here is a picture taken from our room!

Our room is nice. King bed, desk, flat screen tv, and nice marble bath. The bed is hard as a rock though! We were so tired and stressed from the days adventures that we fell asleep at 6 pm and slept until 4 am. We then got up and prepared for Gotcha day!!!!!
