Gotcha Day-part 2

While we were sitting and waiting, the door to the elevator area was open, and we saw Ava arrive with two other children who were also being adopted!
We had her in our arms at 10:20 am! Prior to them handing her over, they had to check our passports and travel approval.

Here comes the man from Ava's SWI carrying her and the gifts we had sent.

When he first went to hand her to me, she turned away but then came right to me. She didn't cry and was so brave! She was very content to sit in my lap, and made good eye contact. She was at first a little shy with Jeremy, but quickly warmed up to him. Because we didn't want to upset her, we decided he could hold her once we got back to our room. On the van riden back, she was reaching for him to play! The Lord definitely orchestrated an amazing day, and we are so thankful and humbled! We and many others had been praying for months that she would have an open heart and accept us. She fits us perfectly!

Here are the rest of our gotcha day pictures at the civil affairs office. She came to us in a handmade dress. Kyla Alexander's mother made it, and we will treasure it forever. (Kyla is the head ICC worker at Hengyang.)

Praising and thanking God for Ava Ruthanne Longfeng Schmidt! She ours forever and orphan no more!
