Hong Kong adventures

We started our Saturday morning in HK with video chatting with the boys! It was so good to see them! They are doing well & having lots of adventures at Memaw and Papa's house.

Our hotel concierge was very helpful in answering some questions about our travel into China tomorrow. He also gave us some suggested sights to see. So we headed out, armed with a map of HK, some HK money & hopes that we could figure out the bus system! We did it, and made it down to admiralty station. We got off the bus, and found a place to eat at a busy shopping complex. We weren't super adventurous as we know in the coming days we will be eating lots of authentic food. So we had pizza at the Spaghetti House!

After that, with the help of a kind stranger, we made our way through another huge mall that connected to another high end mall (Tiffany's, Cartier, etc...) rode up several escalators to end up in the HK Park.

Just through HK Park is the Peak Tram that takes you up to Victoria Peak. We almost got snookered into buying a bus tour instead but luckily figured out that the lady didn't represent the Peak Tram company. The tram was very steep; a 45 degree angle at one point. Here are some pictures while we were going up.

Once up top, you walk through more shopping (there is soooo much shopping in HK) and we managed to find an exit to outside. The views were amazing. Everywhere you look there are huge buildings. It is impossible to get it to fit into one picture.

We then saw a walking path and decided to check it out. It was beautiful, quiet, full of butterflies, singing birds, chirping bugs and frogs. The foliage was amazing!

This trail was 13 km, and took us about an hour to walk. We circled all of Victoria's Peak, and saw many stunning sights.

We took the tram back down, and then walked to the Star Ferry retinal to take a boat ride across the harbour. It was fun but rather short ride!

Once back on shore, we walked to the famous Avenue of the Stars. It's like the Hollywood walk of fame, and the amazing race had a stop here! It was very busy here as there were several events going on. We saw a Korean food event with rappers who were amazing. There was also people singing karaoke at another event. The view of downtown HK shore from the avenue of the stars was amazing!

We had walked a long ways, and were ready to head back. We had planned on taking the bus back, but realized that wouldn't work as we didn't have a bus map for this area of town. But we had a subway map, and we did it!!! We made it back!!!

Glad we were forced to take the subway because it gave us a chance to learn the system before we take the subway on Sunday to head into China to catch the high speed train.
