Getting Ready for Trevor's Party

Because Trevor's birthday falls right before Halloween, it is sometimes hard to schedule a birthday party. Because Halloween weekend is so full of activities, we opted to have his party the first weekend of November. We lucked out again and had beautiful warm weather!

Last year Trevor was really into Sesame Street, and my good friend Debbie Becker, helped me decorate a Cookie Monster cake. I had so much fun making it, I decided to try another cake this year. As you know, Trevor is really into Thomas and Friends. I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, and he said he wanted an Emily train cake. I found this really cute 3-D train cake on-line, and Debbie agreed to help me decorate it.

After some shipping difficulties with the company I ordered from, the cake pan finally arrived on Wednesday. I made the cake on Thursday afternoon, but the first attempt was a flop! I wasn't sure how long to bake it, and it did not bake correctly. So Thursday night at 9 pm, I was busy making another one! That one turned out alright, but in the end, we decided to lay the cake on it's side because it just wouldn't stand up straight.

it was a tasty flop!

Cake #2 - base is iced, getting ready to ice Emily

Emily is taking shape! Debbie had the great idea to use
a picture of Trevor as the conductor!

TAH-DAH! All finished!

Saturday was a beautiful day, and we spent the morning getting the outside and inside ready for the party. Trevor had a great time playing outside while Daddy raked leaves.

I'm so excited for this party!
