Shock and Awe

We were in shock and awe at Evan's 4 month check up last week. Two weeks ago, Evan had been in to see Dr. Blanke for a virus that he just couldn't get over. At that point he weighed 16 lbs 7 ozs. They put him on antibiotics which kicked it. I figured he might weigh around 17 pounds at his 4 month check up, but he weighed 18 lbs!!! Guess that virus didn't slow him down one bit in the eating and growth department. He also is 26 3/4 inches long which puts him in the 93rd and 95th percentile for height and weight. Below is a picture of him napping when he wasn't feeling the greatest. He was quite congested...hence the open lips for breathing!

We started Evan on solids this past weekend, and he likes it! I'm hoping this can slow him down some on formula. We are going through a big can in about a week!

Sunday we got a babysitter to watch Trevor so that we could go out to dinner and then on to small group. I was deeply touched by Trevor's reaction when we got home that evening. He gave us rousing welcome home hugs, and was so affectionate with Evan when I sat him down on the floor. He even told Evan "I missed you!" The three of us then shared some nice snuggle time on the floor watching the end of Brother Bear II movie. I'm still awed by the deep affection that Trevor and Evan have for each other even at their young age. It is a blessing to watch them and be a parent to them!

  1. Mmmmmmm solid food...He is going to grow even faster now! Does he have a favorite yet? Mine guys always loved rice cereal mixed with fruits...of course I don't think I have ever heard of a baby that did not like that!

The picture of Evan sleeping with his lips open and cheek pressing it all over is very cute. Although I wish he wouldn't have been so sick making him sleep that way.

    Love- Kirsten
