Enjoying extended family!

Besides going to Ohio for golf, the trip was also a homecoming of sorts. Mom and Dad drove over from PA for a few days and my sister, Kirsten and her family, had just recently relocated back to the Arcanum area. It was great for all of us to be together.

Prior to this trip I had been rather nostalgic about my Ohio home for several reasons. Taking Trevor to the Vanderburgh Co Fair brought back a lot of fun memories of raising sheep and attending the fair. I stumbled across an Arcanum HS alumni facebook group page, and it was fun and interesting to see who were members and where they are now. I was sharing with my dad that someone had made a funny post about things in Arcanum that you hated when you were growing up. For example, it was not unusual if something happens, everyone seems to know about it. When you are younger it seemed to be a curse to live in a smaller town where everyone knows everyone. But having been away for a while now, I can see the blessing in it. There is a sense of community. Hopefully as our children get older, we will feel more established and connected to others in our community.

During each of our days in Ohio, we were able to reconnect and visit with family. It was great! On Friday, Kirsten and her family came down to spend the day at Grandma Bell's. Grandma Marian and Grandpa Don (Dad's mom and stepdad) stopped by mid-morning. Later that evening we had a large spaghetti dinner with Great Aunt Blanche, Aunt Barb, Uncle Rodger, cousing Curt, Celeste and Peyton Caplinger, and then the rest of our clan. It was a full house!

Trevor loves playing with his cousins! They all played so hard, and were super sweaty and dirty to prove it! The pictures above are of boys playing on Grandma Bell's screened in porch, and best buds Isaac and Trevor eating grapes.

Evan getting some Memaw love!

This trip was also used to introduce Evan to his three sets of great grandparents. Here Evan is spending some quality time with Great Grandma Bell.

Evan loves kisses, and will laugh if you give him a lot of kisses in a row. Evan thought Papa's kisses were kind of scruffy!

On Saturday, Memaw, Papa, Trevor, Evan and I traveled north to see Kirsten, Jeremy and the boys. We had a fun lunch at a newer restaurant outside of Arcanum called Farmer Browns. We had delicious pizza. Trevor amazed us all by eating a TON! He kept Aunt Kirsten very busy cutting his food! After lunch, we drove out to the farm that Jeremy and Kirsten will be moving into very soon. This farm has been in Jeremy Mill's family for over 4 generations. It is an amazing place with a beautiful house, great flower gardens, large shaded side yard, and barns! Every boy's perfect adventure land. We are so excited for their family!
Playing chase with Hailey and Lane
On Sunday evening, we visited with my cousin Chrisi and her family. Trevor had a great time running around in the back yard and playing with the kids. They finally wore themselve out enough to take a break and pose for this picture.
