Two Months

Happy 2 month Gotcha-versary Ava!  Can't believe it has been two months already.   You have grown in so many ways.  You are settling in and loving your family.  When we say "I love you"  you respond with "Ah wuh uh!"  You still give great hugs and love to snuggle, especially when you are sleepy.  I love how you fall across me into a cradle hold and suck your thumb as you drift off to sleep.  I gaze at your little face, beautiful eye lashes and thank God for you.  You are such a gift to us!

You are sleeping better at night, although you still wake up at exactly 1 hour after asleep.  I think you want to make sure that we are still here.  Sometimes you are waking up at 2 or 3 am, but that is okay. It gives us more time to love on you, and help you understand that you are safe, secure and loved.  You are sleeping much better at naps now.  You squeal in anticipation of seeing your brothers as we come down the stairs after nap.  You love them so much and they love you right back!

This sight just about had Mommy in tears....
she feels so blessed to be Mommy to this crew!

Evan loves to play Tea Party with you at the pool
You are still eating like a champ!  Mommy thinks it is so fun to feed you because you will eat just about anything.  You are still very messy when you eat....in fact just yesterday you decided to lift your plate full of spaghetti over your head before we could stop you.

To celebrate Daddy's new job as Product Line Manager, we made him a chocolate eclair cake.  You loved it!  Actually, you love anything with chocolate.  Mommy has found you a few times with the chocolate chip bag.

Look at my healthy lunch!  I love this food!
(Grilled Turkey Breast, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli and Carrots)
You also love to eat popcorn with your brothers.  Most of the time though yours ends up on the floor.

Your other favorite food is ketchup!  You have been known to spoon up the ketchup and eat it all by itself!
Licking the ketchup off the spoon handle
You also like to mooch off of others when they are still eating.  We are amazed by your ability to eat grown up food and use your fork and spoon so well too!

I love corn!
Your hair is growing, and you like hair bows more.  You made up a little game with mommy after naps of trying on lots of different hair bows.

Cutie girl!

1st pigtails!
Mommy had to take a picture of you after your first 2 hour nap.  You had the hair to prove that it was a good nap!  You also like to make funny faces when she pulls out the camera.  We think you are a little ham and fit perfectly!

You warmed up to Eli, and you love to love on him in your own special way.

Loving on Eli!
You had your first big "owie" when you tripped and hurt your lip.  You had a pretty good fat lip for a few days.  That same day you also fell down outside and scrapped your forehead.  It was a rough day.

You discovered the joy of Mommy's purse and her wallet.  There were several times that she found you like this........You now have your own purse and little wallet, but it just isn't the same.

While your big brothers played on the slip n slide, you enjoyed your own little spa session in the tub.

You have grown so much this month.  You are understanding what we say and ask you to do.  You are using sign language and words to ask for things.  You are learning who Jesus and God are....you love the song "Jesus loves me" and you squint your eyes closed when we pray. You like saying "Ah-mah" at the end and raise your hands.

We praise God that you have been declared healthy via the GI Specialist and the Pediatric Surgeon. Apparently, your medical special need was slightly misdiagnosed in Chin@, and you are not a true case. While we might have to take you in this fall for a little nip-tuck of your surgery site, you are a healthy girl and have no restrictions!

A few days ago, we pulled out the photo album your orphanage provided on Gotcha Day.  You liked seeing pictures of yourself, and would say "baby."  I think you also said Cherry's name.  We will always be so thankful for the love and care you received there.  We will never forget the sacrifices made for you, and we are honored and humbled to be your family.  We can't wait to see what next month holds for you!

The day ended with a great big gotcha-versay hug from brother Trevor!

  1. What a wonderful "diary" post that will be so neat for you to share with Ava someday. She is surely growing & blossoming with all the love and care she is surrounded by. Love all the pictures . . . I'll have to save them to my phone so I can show off our gorgeous granddaughter!!! Love, Hugs, & Kisses to all - MeeMaw
