1st Day of Kindergarten

Trevor has been anticipating this day for quite some time.  We've been counting down to the first day of Kindergarten for the whole month of August!  He had me make a calendar so that he could mark off the days each night before bed.  He slept well last night and woke up ready to go to school.

Full of excitement

We had planned on using his backpack from last year as it is still in good shape.  But when we received the take home/return to school folder that he will be using, I realized that it would not fit in his backpack.  So I asked him what kind of backpack he wanted.  Of course his response was "Angry Birds!"

We took Trevor to school as a family this morning.  Unfortunatley, we couldn't walk him into his class, but they did have teacher's helpers there to escort the kiddos to their classrooms.  Trevor was very excited and didn't act the least bit nervous.

School begins at 8:40 a.m and ends at 11:32 a.m.  Trevor will be riding the bus to school and then back home.  We wanted him to ride home on the first day so that he can learn how that all works.  Evan rode his trike to the bus stop, and we didn't have to wait long for the bus.

The bus arrived at 11:40 am.  Trevor was excited that he was the first stop and first kid off!

Here comes the bus!

One excited kindergartner!

Running to Mommy!

One HAPPY kindergartner!
Trevor had a great 1st day!  While it is hard to let him go, we are praying that the Lord will protect him and guide him while he is in school.  We also pray that Trevor can be a light to other kids, showing love and kindness at all times.  In an age where public school sometimes gets a bad rap, we are encouraged by what we hear about Beaver Public Schools, the teachers, and curriculum.  I pray that Trevor can be a positive influence on and example to those around him.

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers (and non-believers) in speech,
in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
1 Timothy 4:12

"Guard my life and rescue me,
let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my HOPE is in YOU!"
Psalms 25:20-21
