We have loved eating out of our garden all spring and summer. The spinach and lettuce was all delicious, but now long gone. Late this summer, we have enjoyed broccoli, corn, tomatoes and peppers. The boys were so excited to harvest our first broccoli and corn ears.

There is also a peach tree on our property. Last year since the tree was not sprayed before we moved in, I just picked all the peaches off way before they were ready. You might remember how bad the stink bugs were last year, and the peaches had tons of bug holes. Plus our tree produces so much fruit that it's branches get weighed down and hang on the ground.
This spring, I did spray the tree. I thought the peaches would ripen in early summer, and when they never did, I figured they were a loss again. So I never re-sprayed the tree.
Two weeks ago, I picked a ton of fruit off the tree because it was splotchy and had some bug issues. But I did leave a few of the better looking fruit on the tree. I was kind of aggravated with the tree because it is a lot of work. I thought to myself, "I'll leave a little fruit and see if it will ripen. If it is horrible, I think we might take the tree out. It can be kind of a nuisance with its drooping branches and maintenance."
Imagine my complete surprise and delight when this week the peaches were finally ready. They are D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S! I think our tree gets a reprieve! I might have to study up on fruit tree care this winter!
