Progress

We are making progress in our adoption journey (insert happy dance & WOOT! WOOT!).  We learned that our home study was completed last Friday, and should be in the hands of our placing agency by next week.

Over the last several weeks, I have been gathering, completing and finalizing all of the remaining paperwork that will go in our dossier.  Ever wondered what goes into a dossier and what it all looks like?

Our dossier paperwork includes:
  • original birth certificates
  • original marriage certificate
  • an adoption application letter stating why we want to adopt, and how we can provide for the needs of our future child
  • certificate of income and property (financial statement)
  • letter of profession for both of us
  • medical forms showing we are in good health
  • another letter of No-Criminal Record provided by our local police department
  • pictures of our home and life
  • more reference letters
  • copies of our passport pages and additional passport pictures
  • our I-800A application which is petitioning the US Government (USCIS) to approve us to adopt internationally
  • our special needs check list
  • various other Lifeline needed documents for notarization
In all, there were 52 pages I sent to Lifeline today.  The envelope weighed .75 lbs!  That is a lot of paper!

Once we receive our USCIS adoption approval, our dossier paperwork will be notarized and authenticated by Lifeline (so thankful for this service), and then shipped off to China.  Getting our dossier to China (called DTC) is a major milestone!  Once we are DTC, we will receive a log-in date, and be eligible for a referral.  We expect that it will take about 5-8 weeks before we are DTC.  We are praying that our paperwork goes through this process smoothly and without any hinderances!  We are so thankful that the Lord has brought us on this journey, and so glad that we getting closer to seeing who the Lord has called us to.

"...those who hope in me will not be disappointed."
