Trevor had his first official soccer practice yesterday, and this is his first time playing an organized sport. He is playing in the U-6 (under 6) group through Brighton Township Soccer Association. They have very nice fields, and we were very impressed with his coaches - Coach Ethan and Coach Bill. One of Trevor's good friends, Jack Samchuck, from Pre-K is also on his team. Did I mention he had a great time and was completely worn out?
Trevor and Jack kicking the ball around as a warm-up. It was very cold Saturday morning - like 40 degrees and windy. Glad we thought to bring hats and gloves!
The coaches had a lot of energy, and kept the kids moving. They ran hard for the whole hour. They had several different drills where they taught the kids how to control the ball.
They also played a game called "Stop and Go" where they kicked the ball around until Stop was yelled. Then they had to stop the ball and put their foot on it. This was good practice for balance.
The next drill they did was bring the ball from mid-field to the goal. After this drill, they divided the team up for 4-on-4 soccer. Some of the kids had played before, but most had not. Many of the kids had no concept of team-mates, passing the ball, and only a few goals were scored. I'm sure as they get better acquainted with the game, they will catch on quickly how to pass to their teammates.
Evan was a good brother, hanging out in the cold to cheer on his brother. He had a good time putting all the left over balls inside the goal while the coaches were talking to the parents!
OMG...are these cute or what? Makes me sad that those 2 precious beautiful grandkidlets are growing up so fast!!! Trevor has "Mommy's Legs(lucky guy!)" and looks like he could kick the ball over the fence! And Baby Evan, well, he looks like he's doing a timeout in jail!!! What dolls they both are! Thank you Erin for these precious miracles; okay Jeremy, thanks to you too! We love you, Mom & Dad aka Nana & Papa
