Our new home

We are finally beginning to feel settled in, have all the boxes unpacked, and have begun to hang pictures at our new house. We really love the house and the location. We have a few neighbors, but the properties are all spaced farther apart. We are also about a mile from downtown Beaver which is very convenient. The major shopping area is only about 10 minutes away on the other side of the Ohio River. Their is a nice mall, Walmart, Lowes, restraurants, and such in Monaca.

dogwood tree. The peach tree is bearing fruit right now...
hope the stinkbugs don't ruin all the fruit.

Speaking of stinkbugs, that is one pest that I have had to learn to live with. When we arrived, the stinkbugs were coming out, and unfortunately they like to winter over inside your house. I killed a LOT of stinkbugs. They have finally subsided, and I haven't been killing so many lately. They don't damage your house, thank goodness, but they are very hard on plants and fruit trees. Apparently they are migrating across the country :(

The boys have done remarkably well with the move and transition here. I think they are enjoying having more space to run and play. We have nice flat spot in our driveway, and they have enjoyed riding bikes and playing outside.

The previous owners asked us prior to their move if we wanted to purchase a bedroom set that included a bunk bed. We decided to buy it so that company would have a place to stay, and so that Jeremy and I would have a place to sleep while we waited for our moving truck to arrive. The boys have had so much fun playing on the bunk bed. They drag tons of toys up there, and play for long stretches.

Beaver is a really cute town, and the downtown area is really thriving. The main business area is always bumper to bumper traffic. There is a nice grocery, family owned bakery, several eateries (including Starbucks), banks, small old-time hardware store and other clothing and furniture stores. Beaver also has a lot of green spaces and parks. We have taken the boys a few times to play at a park near the river.

The weather has been very nice although a little rainy. It is so nice to be able to spend the afternoon and evenings outside with lower temperatures and less humidity. We definitely don't miss Evansville's weather, but we might be eating our words come winter!
