Ohiopyle State Park

After getting all of our soggy belongs packed in the car, we headed out to hike Ohiopyle. It is such a beautiful place. The first hike to Cucumber Falls was rather short, but steep and slippery. The boys did very well. The falls were beautiful, and past the falls, the water runs down to the Youghiogheny River. This river gorge runs through the heart of Ohiopyle, and is said to be the best whitewater rafting in the eastern US. We saw many people heading down the river in boats and kayaks. It looked like fun!

The boys enjoyed throwing rocks and
watching all the rafters head down river!

After a very unglamorous picnic in our car at another trailhead parking lot, we headed down to see a natural waterslide. There were several crazy people riding the slide, and many onlookers. The water was very high and fast from the previous nights rainfall. Trevor really wanted to try it until he saw how high the water was. We did learn from watching people that you need to wear shoes to protect your feet....although one kid came out with only one shoe!
