So the big surprise of the weekend was that we would be spending Saturday through Monday at the Sylvania Mountain Lodge. This cabin was built in 1929 and is a Craftsman bungalow. It was super cute, well preserved and beautiful. It is located about 40 minutes north of Ohiopyle State Park, and right on Kooser Creek Run. The back of the property was amazing, but unfortunately the front of the property sat right on Rte 31 which carried a lot of traffic. Not exactly the peaceful, quiet retreat I had hoped for.

By Saturday evening it was raining again so the boys enjoyed marshmellows inside before bed. Trevor and Evan were excited to share a bedroom that had bunkbeds.
Sunday morning brought more rain, but luckily it let up by mid-morning. We ventured out to another nearby state park called Laurel Hills. It was beautiful! We hiked the Pumphouse trail to Jones Mill pond and falls. Lots of trees and lush vegetation!
After the hike we headed back to the cabin for lunch, and decided to take a ride up to Johnstown, PA. The weather was not looking so great for the afternoon so we needed an inside activity. The boys have been obsessed with Kung Fu Panda lately, and the new Kung Fu Panda 2 was in theaters. This would be the first movie theater experience for both the boys.
We had a little time to kill before the movie and read about the Johnstown Incline Plane. It is the largest one in the world! We rode it down and back up again. It was pretty cool.

This is fun!We made it to the movie, Trevor loved it and Evan slept through it! Afterwards, we had a great Father's Day dinner at Chili's. At the end of our dinner, a family behind us with 3 super cute girls were telling knock-knock jokes. So Trevor and Evan started telling them knock-knock jokes. It was very entertaining!
We headed for home early Monday morning so Jeremy could enjoy his birthday at home. In the afternoon, I ran to the local bakery to get him a cake! (I was too tired from all our running around to make him one.) Minus the rain, we had a fun and memorable weekend.

Just caught up on all your posts. Makes me miss the beauty of the East Coast Mountains. What a fun weekend. I don't think we are yet brave enough to really camp and hike with the kids!
