Christmas Eve day started out very well...Daddy made cinnamon rolls, and we were about to open presents when we heard a loud popping sound outside. We knew what that sound was and quickly rushed to the patio door to see if we could see where it was coming from.
Across Sharon Rd, we see a transformer blow and catch on fire. About 2 milliseconds later, we loose our power! So much for my picture perfect Christmas Eve morning. Of course, you can't hold off a 3 year old from opening presents, so we re-vamped our plans and moved present opening to the family room where there was more light. We had Trevor open a couple of presents that we thought might hold his attention until the power came back on. Luckily, the power was only out for about an hour.

After the power was restored, we moved to the front room in front of the Christmas tree to finish opening presents.

We were surprised that Evan got into thepresent opening action! Opening his present from

helping Evan open another presentAfter all the excitement of the morning, we had a yummy lunch of homemade lasagna, salad and bread. After naps, we headed to CFC for the 4 pm Christmas Eve service.
The service was very good, Trevor really enjoyed the music, and Evan managed to sit still for most of the service (he had a good time flirting with the people behind us). Near the beginning of the service, an associate pastor was reading the scripture verses about the wise men bring gifts to Jesus and how they were treasures. Trevor loudly says "Oh, treasure! Like pirate treasure!" Every one around us got a good giggle out of that!
When we arrived at the sanctuary, candles were being handed out. I was a little leery and nervous about Trevor holding a candle. But with a little guidance and assitance from Mommy and Daddy, Trevor participated in the candle lighting portion of the service. At the end of the service, every one lights their candle while singing "Silent Night." It was so beautiful. Even more beautiful was watching Trevor hold his candle and raise it unassisted when he saw others around him raise their candle at the end of the song. It made me cry!
After the service, we headed to a Christmas Eve party hosted by former small group friends. It was a very fun time, and a nice way to end this special day.

Erin, your entire blog of Christmas pics and stories is wonderful! I've had so much fun reading and enjoying! Your a great daughter, mother, wife, and child of God! Love you, Dad.
