Gardening Fun

One project that desperately needed done was the painting of our shed.  I finally got it finished a few weeks ago, and it looks a 100 times better.  See several pictures below to see the old, weathered shed.

I am so thankful that my dad helped us back in October to fix up the original garden area.  It was a slopping,  weed filled plot.  We made it into a raised bed, and it is fantastic!

Adding wood beams to make the raised bed

All the dirt wheel barrowed down, and putting in
the final rebar to hold the wood beams in place

Tah-Dah!  Besides making this masterpiece,
Dad might have gotten a torn rotator cuff also!

Here is the garden today!  I'm so tickled with how the things are growing.  Being a novice gardener, I did learn a few things.  I might have planted some seeds too deep!  But for the most part, things have come up very well!

We put up this deer fence to keep the critters out!

We have planted sugar snap peas, broccoli, green beans,
tomatoes, sweet corn, and several varieties of lettuce and spinach

Spinach and lettuce

YEAH!  First cuttings of spinach and lettuce!
YUMMY!
We have 3 planters like this on our deck.  The pansies are
growing like crazy and look so pretty!
