U.S. Space and Rocket Center

On Saturday morning, we headed home. Since our return trip would take us through Huntsville, we decided to visit the US Space and Rocket Center. We learned that Huntsville was an important part of space program under President Kennedy. Werner von Braun, an important German scientiest who developed rockets, was brought to Huntsville to work on creating a rocket to take astronauts to the moon. Out of these developments, the Saturn V was created for the Apollo missions.

Prior to this trip, I had never been to Alabama, and I was so impressed with how beautiful it is. Huntsville was also very pretty with many rolling, forested mountains in the area. In addition, it was a gorgeous day as you can see in the pictures below.

Evan was a little intimidated!

In the new museum addition , they have a complete Saturn V rocket;
this is the bottom thrusters. They were HUGE!

an exhibit explaining thrust which was very difficult!
Trevor tried with all his might to get the handle down,
and needed some help from Daddy to make it work.

We had a wonderful 1st family vacation making lots of great memories. Even today, about a month later, Trevor was pretending to be Wes and working with Captain Crunch. I'm so thankful that we were able to take this trip and expose the boys to new environments and new experiences.
