Ruh-roh!

We had a Ruh-roh type incident at our house last week. Trevor's favorite bear, Baby Bosi (short for Boswell) and his favorite Pj's were nearly ruined by Silly Putty.

On Wednesday, Trevor and his classmates received prizes out of the Pre-School treasure box for good behavior. When he showed me that he had chosen Silly Putty, I held my breath and didn't say anything. But I was really thinking, "why did you choose that?"

Fast forward several hours...I'm gone for rehearsal, and Jeremy puts the boys to bed. Trevor decides to sleep with the silly putty. At 12:30 a.m. Trevor calls out, and I go see what he needs. In his half asleep/half awake voice, he says "Bosi is stuck to me!" I quickly change his shirt, and put him back to bed.

Imagine my horror when first seeing the mess when I take the bear and shirt downstairs!

Green Silly Putty smeared into the fur of our irreplaceable Baby Bosi. I immediately googled how to get silly putty out of fabric and found directions. I wasn't too hopeful it would work, and I wasn't about to start on it in the middle of the night.

Thursday afternoon I spent a good 1 1/2 hours working on Bosi and the shirt. I wasn't too concerned about the shirt. I figured it was heading to the garbage.

That is a lot of silly putty stuck there!

I sprayed and scrapped, and was encouraged when it was coming off! I managed to get it all off, washed it, and it looks nearly new. Don't have a final picture of the shirt, but here is the shirt mid-process.

Bosi results were more miraculous! I couldn't believe that green silly putty didn't leave a stain on his white fur.

Remember the green goop on his neck and scarf? All gone!

Bosi is a happy endorser of WD-40.
That little remaining ball of silly putty went bye-bye!

I think I will add Expert Remover of Silly Putty to my resume!
