Exercise

I have never really consider myself athletic until a few years ago. Jeremy asked me what I wanted for my birthday one year, and I said "a personal trainer." It seemed rather extravagent to me to say you have a personal trainer, but I was tired of trying to exercise, lose some weight, fall of the wagon, and repeat the cycle.

Working with a trainer every few weeks really helped me to learn how to lift weights properly, establish a workout routine, increased my self confidence, and led me to realize I wasn't a total non-athlete. Since beginning training, I have completed a half marathon, a sprint triathlon, and several 5-K races. I never played any organized sports when I was kid. I ran one year of High School track my freshman year, but was not very successful. I was thinking about that season of running earlier this week when I was on the treadmill. I wonder if I would have been more successful in running if the coach would have been more personal, like my personal trainers.

But ultimately I want my exercise regime to be a good example to my children. I want them to lead healthy lifestyles, and I get a total kick out of seeing them running, riding their bikes, hiking, and getting involved. We are excited that Trevor will be playing spring soccer in a few months, and I can't wait to see how that all goes. I was a proud Mama at Christmas when the boys wanted to work out with Meemaw and Papa.
