A Week of Firsts

I follow another mom's blog called Homemaker Chronicles (http://www.homemakerchronicles.com/blog/), and she had a recent post titled "Firsts." Her theme was so appropriate for what we have been going through at our house in the last week. We have had many firsts!

1st time without a Paci.

This past week, Trevor said good bye to his pacifers! We put them in an antique recipe card holder, tied a bow around it, and left it on the table for the Paci Fairy. The Paci Fairy did visit, and the next morning left Trevor a letter and a special gift. Trevor has done very well with out his Paci. Only during the first day without did he say "I'm done playing with Jack, I want my paci back."

Pacifers are in the box,
ready to be wrapped up!

Can you see his excitement over receiving Jack?

1st time of no naps

A few weeks ago, I thought Trevor might be getting close to giving up naps. We would go every other day with or without a nap. Now that paci is gone, so are naps. Mommy has had a hard time adjusting to this new reality. Hopefully this week will be easier?

1st time of cutting my hair shorter

I've been comtemplating changing my hair for a while since I have had basically the same hair cut since college. I figured with all the changes occuring in my life (leaving my career to stay home, discovering I do have some athletic ability), why not totally change my hair. I saw this super cute hair cut on a TV commercial, DVRed it, took a picture of it, and showed it to my hair dresser. She thought it would work. It isn't exactly like the models, but I think it works. I'm not totally in love with it yet, but am glad I had the courage to change.

Drum roll please.....................................................

The rest of our firsts continue in the next blog. I had too much material for one entry!

  3. I think the "Paci (passy) - how the heck do you spell that word anyhow?? . . . I digress . . . I think the "Passy Fairy" idea is simply BRILLIANT!! Sorry, but this Grandma is glad to see those things disappear! And of course, being a fan of short hair, I love the haircut! You go, girl!
    Love ya - Mom

  4. Holy Cow you look even more like Mom now! I LOVE IT! It is a super cute cut! I think you should keep it that way, you look good with short hair!!!
Oh the napping, it is hard to loose it, but getting him to bed and up every day at the same time will be a great blessing as well...of course he has always been a good nighttime sleeper as well...but I think you will see very positive changes with the nap being gone.
Awesome hair, great slip and slide pictures in the other post! Love- Kirsten
